"Talking with him" from your heart and in your head becomes easier as time goes on. But, you're right, it sucks to not be able to pick up a phone. Don't stop talking to him though - he can hear you. :-)
No other way to put, it sucks. I hate to tell you this, but it's been nine years for me now, and I STILL want to call my dad, on Father's Day and many other times all year. It does get easier, the first one is the hardest. WE LOVE YOU, hang in there!
Father's Day this year was hard without a dad to go visit or even just call. This sucks.
